ART WORKSHOP

In 2022, in partnership with one our referrers, Equal Education Chances, we carried out an art workshop for families facing destitution.

During the workshop, participants shared their experiences of destitution.

Here are some of their testimonies.

"Helpless as a mum, I feel broken at times and stigmatised."

"I feel embarrassed and emotionally down."

MDF1-7

"Being destitute makes me feel like I don’t have anything.

I am always worried by the way people look at me.”

MDF1-4

"The pain of being destitute.

The kids don't understand what it means, they cry and throw tantrums.

I have to bear the pain alone."

"Being a Mum with children with multiple disabilities it is not easy, especially when you're not getting any help, physically and financially, it sucks, you just have to bear it alone. For one to get the support fund you must have a national insurance number which most do not have. It drives one into double destitution.

If there could be a change to this it would relieve a lot of families with disabled children."
